Its no news that the number of women in the world is larger compare to men”s. Could this be responsible for a large amount of women, especially in the developed nation consciously prefer being a single mother than answering a man’s name. A single parent (or solo parent) is a parent, not living with a spouse or partner, who has most of the day-to-day responsibilities in raising the child or children.
It has come to my observation that this trend of “single mothers” is beginning to take it course in Africa, especially Nigeria, not because of the death of a spouse, but a conscious effort being made by the female partner to remain single, despite bearing child(ren).
Could this be a means of women’s emancipation from men’s domineering (Africa)society, or its as a result of the population of women over men’s in the world? Another question is; is this phenomenon of “singe mother” a blessing or curse to our mother earth?
